In 2010, Pew Research Center published a study that showed how engaged boomers, millennials and Gen X were with social media, mobile, texting and other digital behaviors at that time.
While this and more recent research steadily tells us that millennials and Gen X are the most engaged generations, it’s important to note that, as this Forbes article points out, boomers are not Luddites.
In fact, a 2013 report published by Mobile Commons shows that boomers are much more engaged than in 2010: More than 80 percent owns a mobile phone; 85 percent uses it for text messaging. And people aged 55 to 64 send and receive an average of 80 text messages per month.
The Huffington Post and Pew report that 60 percent of people ages 50 to 64 are using social networking sites and more than 40 percent of people aged 65 and older are using them.
In addition, e-marketer reports that one in five digital video viewers is a boomer.
