Today, I’m focused on gratitude, and I invite you to join me.

Fifteen years later, I’m still grateful for the heroes of September 11th — the people who stepped up to save lives when they were free to choose another path.

This song seems like a good way to keep that in mind on a Monday morning.

As you may know, David Bowie was a long-time resident of NYC. He dedicated “Heroes” to his local ladder company in this October 2001 tribute to 9/11 first responders. The song starts at about four minutes in to the video, and the front rows are full of real, live heroes.

I’ll never forget what we lost that day, but I’ll always be grateful for what many, many brave men and women gave.
